Lean Coffee
A Lean Coffee is a method of facilitating a meeting in which the agenda is collaboratively built by the meeting attendees. It allows for flexibility with time boxes, and helps focus the meeting on a prioritized list of topics. Instructions: 1) Attendees submit possible topics for discussion. 2) Attendees vote to select their preferred topics by adding an “X” in the item description while in Table view on the board. 3) Rank the topics in order of most votes to least votes in the “To Discuss” column. 4) Determine an initial timebox (5 minutes per topic is recommended). 5) Determine an “add-on” timebox to be used if attendees wish to continue conversation on a topic (2 minutes recommend). 6) Move the first topic from “To Discuss” to “Discussing” by clicking and dragging the topic. 7) Discuss the topic using the initial timebox. 8) At the end of the timebox, attendees can vote to continue for the add-on timebox by adding a plus(+) or minus(-) sign, or move on to the next topic. Continue with the add-on timebox until the majority votes to move onto the next topic. 9) Capture any follow-up items in the “Actions” section as they arise. 10) Move the finished topic to “Good Enough” before moving on to the next topic. 11) Continue steps 6-10 until your total meeting timebox is up!
